COVID-19: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has been discharged from the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, today. He was admitted in Delhi’s AIIMS for four weeks following post-COVID complications. Pokhriyal was admitted to AIIMS on 1st June after he complained of difficulty in breathing. He had earlier tested positive in April and had recovered from the infection.
Wrote A Poem in Hospital
While in the hospital, he wrote a poem calling himself a “candle of hope” against the darkness symbolic of the Covid virus. The minister, while battling complications at the hospital, devoted some time to pen a heartfelt poem, chronicling his struggles and how he managed to overcome those with his sheer grit and determination.
The minister, who has authored over 70 books, has also received many national and international awards for his literary work. In January, this year, he was virtually conferred ‘Canada Sahitya Gaurav’ by the Hindi Writers Guild of Canada. In December 2020, he was honoured with a lifetime achievement award by the London-based Vatayan-UK literary organisation. Pokhriyal has an honorary doctoral degree, D.Litt in the field of literature by Graphic Era, Deemed to be University, Uttarakhand.
Hosted Interactive Session While in Hospital
While he was in the hospital recovering from COVID, he hosted an interactive session. While announcing this, Mr Nishank in his social media handle said: “I will be interacting with dear students.. to discuss their concerns and queries related to the evaluation of CBSE board exams.”He addressed students’ concerns and queries related to the evaluation of CBSE board exams. During the interaction, the minister assuring the students said: “If you are not happy with the assessment method, don’t worry. We are ready to conduct optional exams…in August.”
Many students, tagged the minister while sending queries for the live interaction. They have also asked about the pending JEE Main exams, scheduling the medical entrance test, NEET, and other competitive exams, most others have urged the Education Minister to scrap the CBSE compartment exams for the private candidates on similar lines.
